THE SIZE OF THE MARKET. With estimated revenue of more than USD 770.77 million (2021 data), the lighting fixtures industry in Brazil, including luminaires, light sources (lamps) and controllers (reactors, sources), shows a recovery curve after the most challenging periods of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Export is considered strategic for the growth of the Brazilian lighting industry. The sector developed the Lux Brasil project, a partnership between Abilux -The Brazilian Association of the Lighting Industry and Apex Brasil, the Brazilian government’s exports agency...Even during the pandemic, the results have already been seen, with the increase in exports of 32.0% in 2021 and with estimates of growth of 20.0% in 2022. In current values, the exports of lighting fixtures in Brazil were USD 25 million in 2021 and the projections for 2022 are around USD 30 million.
DESIGN AS STRATEGY
...the design made in Brazil has been highlighted in the main international exhibitions, having as flagships brands recognized for their authorial design and the work with materials that value the vastness of raw materials available in the country. It operates throughout Brazil and also exports around 5% of production to Latin American markets such as Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru. Accord Iluminação is a manufacturer of decorative luminaires with contemporary and sophisticated design, using wood as the main raw material. “In addition to working with Brazilian talent, we also have some American design pieces, because Accord has been in the US market for the last four years,” says Donato Acordi, Director of Accord...Another important trend in the lighting market in Brazil is the involvement of prestigious furniture industries in development of lighting solutions or decorative lighting pieces. An example is the luxury outdoor furniture manufacturer Modalle Móveis, awarded in 2022 with the best outdoor stand at the respected ICFF – International Contemporary Furniture, during the New York Design Week...Another highlight is the Brazilian brand of high-end planned furniture Ornare, internationally recognized and present in important projects around the world. Under the creative direction of the prestigious architect Ricardo Bello Dias, with studios in Milan and Sao Paulo, the brand has enriched its collections with high technology and exquisite finishing, increasingly functional, elegant and sophisticated lighting solutions.
