The value of the European lighting market is again exceeding Eur 20 billion, with lighting fixtures in excess of Eur 18 billion (+12%) and lamps recording a further +5%. Growth is driven by residential luminaires (+15%), but also the segment of professional lighting registers a double-digit increase. Overperforming businesses prove to be: Linear Lighting, Art&Museum, Healthcare, Area Lighting (outdoor).
Looking at the distribution patterns, E-commerce, DIY and Lifestyle account for 27%, lighting specialists and wholesalers for 54%, the Project/Contract channel again recovering at almost 19%. The LED share is now 77%. Average EBITDA is 9.6%.
France and Spain are among the fast-recovering markets. Strong exports of lighting fixtures are recorded for Denmark, The Netherlands and Poland; Imports in the United Kingdom reach a significant +30%. Artemide, Design Holding, Disano, Eglo, Lival, Luceco, SG Armaturen, and Xal are amond the growing players. The top 50 players in the European market for lighting fixtures (Signify, Zumtobel, Fagerhult, Trilux…) hold almost 50% of the total market. Leedarson, Yankon, Opple are among the top Chinese players in Europe. Signify is by far the company that holds more IP patents in this sector
