E-Commerce for the Lighting Industry

The E-Commerce market for lighting fixtures is estimated to account for almost 6% of the world lighting fixtures consumption, meaning USD 8.5 billion in 2018 (including both B2C and B2B business), driven for 37% by wholesalers and for 28% by E-tailers. Higher incidence for residential lighting where 8% is covered by web-sales. The e-commerce market for the lighting fixtures almost tripled since 2012, registering an average yearly growth equal to +18%. Asia has been the fastest growing region with India increasing by 31% on average in the period 2012-2018, followed by China with +28%. On the other hand, the United States and Europe increased in average by 14% and 12%. North America and China are the largest markets in terms e-commerce penetration in the lighting business (with a share of 8% each); in Europe, the United Kingdom and Germany represent the largest marketplaces
